How the sum works

Agree the deal before the event. Then put the sold tickets and prices into the sales rows. Each row can be a different ticket type. This sheet uses pounds throughout. Enter only tickets that were sold, rather than tickets held or given away.

Gross is the sum of tickets sold × ticket price across all rows. Add ticketing fees, venue hire, sound and other agreed deductions. Net is gross minus those deductions. Keep receipts for the costs so both sides can check the sheet.

A straight split pays the artist the agreed percentage of positive net. A guarantee pays the stated artist amount, even if the promoter makes a loss. Guarantee versus percentage pays the larger amount. Guarantee plus percentage pays the guarantee first, then splits the positive balance left after costs and that guarantee. This definition matters: use it only if it matches your deal.

The promoter receives net minus the artist payment. A negative promoter share means more money is needed to settle the deal. We do not hide that loss or reduce a guarantee to fit the takings. Divide the artist share equally among the acts. If pennies do not divide evenly, give one extra penny to the first acts listed. Print the sheet and check it together before paying.

Worked example

100 tickets at £20 give £2,000 gross. Deduct £500 to leave £1,500 net. A 70% artist split gives £1,050 to the artists and £450 to the promoter. Two acts receive £525 each.
