How the sum works
Start with the price of one ticket and the number you expect to sell in a year. Choose who covers the booking fee. The receipt separates the buyer’s bill from the organiser’s costs. A fee paid by the buyer is not a saving for the organiser.
Standard UK rate: 4.67% + £0.46, excluding VAT. Card processing included. The help page publishes a separately rounded VAT-inclusive rate; this calculator uses the pricing page before VAT. The sum uses standard online paid tickets. It excludes tax, refunds, discounts and negotiated rates. Check your own agreement before setting prices. Free tickets have no booking fee in this estimate. We assume one ticket per card payment; several tickets in one payment can change processing fees and rounding.
The formula is ticket price × percentage + fixed fee, subject to any published minimum or cap. Round the final fee to the nearest penny or cent, then multiply by tickets sold. Where card processing is separate, we add Stripe’s standard domestic card fee. Buyers cover the booking fee only; the organiser covers separate Stripe processing. For Eventbrite USD, the chosen payer covers both the service fee and Eventbrite payment processing.
CrabGate costs $99 a year, with no per-ticket fee from CrabGate. Stripe’s card fee still applies. Ticket money goes straight to your own Stripe account. When buyers cover booking fees today, $99 is a new organiser cost and buyers stop paying a booking fee.

£20 × 4.67% + £0.46 = £1.394, rounded to £1.39 before VAT. At 1,000 tickets that is £1,390. CrabGate costs $99 a year, converted at the illustrative rate, plus £500 in Stripe fees.
