How the sum works

Start with the price of one ticket and the number you expect to sell in a year. Choose who covers the booking fee. The receipt separates the buyer’s bill from the organiser’s costs. A fee paid by the buyer is not a saving for the organiser.

UK rate: 6.95% + £0.59 per sold ticket, card processing included. UK figure confirmed in the official fee table; pricing page displays USD rates. Taxes excluded. The sum uses standard online paid tickets. It excludes tax, refunds, discounts and negotiated rates. Check your own agreement before setting prices. Free tickets have no booking fee in this estimate. We assume one ticket per card payment; several tickets in one payment can change processing fees and rounding.

The formula is ticket price × percentage + fixed fee, subject to any published minimum or cap. Round the final fee to the nearest penny or cent, then multiply by tickets sold. Where card processing is separate, we add Stripe’s standard domestic card fee. Buyers cover the booking fee only; the organiser covers separate Stripe processing. For Eventbrite USD, the chosen payer covers both the service fee and Eventbrite payment processing.

CrabGate costs $99 a year, with no per-ticket fee from CrabGate. Stripe’s card fee still applies. Ticket money goes straight to your own Stripe account. When buyers cover booking fees today, $99 is a new organiser cost and buyers stop paying a booking fee.

Illustrative assumption chosen on 5 October 2026: US$1 = £0.75 or €0.90. This is not a live exchange quote. Your card provider sets the actual conversion.

Worked example

£20 × 6.95% + £0.59 = £1.98. At 1,000 tickets that is £1,980 before tax. If the organiser covers it, £18.02 remains per ticket. CrabGate costs $99 a year, converted at the illustrative rate, plus £500 in Stripe fees.

Considering a switch from Eventbrite?

A fee estimate is one part of the decision. Check how buyers find you, how your staff check tickets, and what happens to existing orders in CrabGate as an Eventbrite alternative.

Eventbrite fees in the US (USD)

For US online paid tickets, the service fee is 3.7% of the ticket price plus $1.79 per ticket. Payment processing is 2.9% of the order total, including service fees and tax. This calculator excludes tax and assumes one ticket per order. When buyers pay the fees, processing is calculated on the ticket price plus the service fee. When the organiser absorbs both fees, the entered ticket price is the buyer’s total and processing is calculated on that amount.

US worked example: a $20 ticket

The service fee is $20 × 3.7% + $1.79 = $2.53. With the buyer paying fees, processing is $22.53 × 2.9% = $0.65 after rounding. The buyer pays $23.18 and the organiser keeps $20. If the organiser absorbs fees, processing is $20 × 2.9% = $0.58, so the buyer pays $20 and the organiser keeps $16.89. At 1,000 one-ticket orders, absorbed Eventbrite fees are $3,110. CrabGate costs $99 a year plus $880 in standard US Stripe fees. Buyer-paid Eventbrite fees are a buyer cost, not an organiser saving.
